Really Ancient Ruins

Well we decided to stop in Verona before we went to Venice, We got to see a really, really, really, old Roman amphitheatre or arena. It was very cool. It isn't as big as the Roman Coliseum, but it is almost completely intact. The outside is full of stone arches.
Inside the walls are row after row of stone seats and steps. The top part of this picture is just a backdrop that has been put up to show what the top of the theatre used to look like. It would have been very impressive to see the real thing.

We got to sit on some of the old stone seats. I wonder what the ancient Roman people who sat here thought about their life? I doubt they thought that 2000 years later someone would be sitting in the same place thinking about them!

Inside the walls of the amphitheatre were lots of stone tunnels and arches. There was this really cool small shelf that we fit onto, so Auntie Kendra just had to take another picture of us.
Outside the arena there were all kinds of props for the opera that was going to be performed in the arena. I thought the dragon was pretty cool.
I also liked the Egyptian sphinxes with the arena in the background. Ancient Romans ruins with fake ancient Egyptian statues!
After the arena we walked to see Juliette's house and balcony, which if you happen to like Shakespeare is interesting - I guess. Then we drove to Venice. More about Venice - or Venezia- in the next post.
